“I’ve been walking these streets for a while, but I still need paper,” writes @luhcalmtiktok.

Viewers are also continuing the trend by adding their own version of the meme in the comments section.

“They keep asking me if I’m OK. I just say I’m doing great. But I just need time for Nemo,” @gawdshawtylifts replied.

“I used to roam the streets out of curiosity, but now I stop and stack, George,” writes @goatec in his post.

This isn’t the first time TikTokers have merged AI and cartoon characters. As AI has become increasingly popular on the app, users have used it to create musical covers of popular songs featuring famous cartoon characters, from Patrick Star (SpongeBob SquarePants) to Eric Cartman (South Park).

The trend builds on similar formats found online, such as the memes on the popular Reddit page r/getmotivated. In these memes, famous motivational quotes are pasted onto an image – often with the speaker’s face on the graphic.

TikTokers have long been interested in motivational content, so the AI-generated cartoon characters are another way users will be interested. The hashtag #motivation has over 374 billion views on the app.

While many creators have put their own spin on the trend—with different characters and music—the main soundtrack for these photo sets comes from Zeus (@.zeusfilmz). Zeus’ original post received over 478,000 views, used a slowed-down version of Mac Demarco’s “For the First Time,” and has now become the soundtrack for over 35,000 posts.
