  • Fans are upset that Chrissy Teigen announced the winner of The Voice during last night’s finale show before it aired on the West Coast.

  • Chrissy sent out a tweet (actually a retweet from The Voice’s official account) announcing the winner.

  • Chrissy later apologized and said she would never again announce one of her husband’s victories before “every state and every country” knew about it.

Chrissy Teigen is no stranger to Twitter drama (hi, body-shamer clapbacks and Twitter troll takedowns). But now Chrissy is in the middle of the drama she helped shape.

The season finale of The voice aired last night and people were very mad at Chrissy for giving away the season finale – you know, when the winner is announced. Chrissy, who was watching The voice on the East Coast, sent out a tweet congratulating her husband, judge John Legend, on the victory of his contestant Maelyn Jarmon. (FYI: Maeyln is 26 and completely deaf in her right ear.)

“OH MY GOD!! YEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!” wrote Chrissy and retweeted The voices official announcement of the winner.

But it seems that Chrissy completely ruined this special moment for everyone on the West Coast who was excited for the finale – and her Twitter followers were quick to notice her mistake.

One follower tweeted, “Doesn’t air for another hour on the west coast!!” Another follower responded sweetly but sarcastically, “Chrissy, sweetheart. Could you have waited until we on the west coast watched the show?” the commenter wrote. “I forgot I follow you and checked my Twitter feed. I’m happy but would have liked a surprise.”

To be fair, Chrissy only retweeted the announcement from The voice‘s official account—and the tweet even included the words “SPOILER ALERT.” But Chrissy admitted her mistake anyway…in the most Chrissy-esque way imaginable.

“I’m really sorry I spoiled the vote tonight,” she tweeted later Tuesday night. “I thought since the official account tweeted it, it would be OK. But now I realize that wasn’t the case, and I’m going to make sure that if my husband wins anything with anyone, I wait to see each state and country before I get excited.”

This apology was followed by another witty remark: “Well, it looks like we are now being punished for my spoiler and the award has been revoked and given to Carson Daly,” she wrote. “I apologize again.”

Apology accepted, Chrissy. Your tweets are always welcome – even if they reveal the winner of a TV show before the entire audience knows.
