A large-scale Israeli attack on Lebanon would risk an Iranian response and trigger a broader war that could endanger U.S. forces in the region, Chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown told reporters in Botswana.

Brown stressed that the US was unlikely to help Israel defend itself against a broader war with Hezbollah in Lebanon, as it did in April.

He pointed to the penetrating power of the resistance movement’s short-range ammunition, which is more difficult to intercept for several reasons.

The general said the US would continue to engage with Israeli leaders and warn them against escalating the war in the region.

Brown’s comments come against a backdrop of Israeli political and military leadership threatening Lebanon with war.

Israeli attacks on Lebanon have continued and even increased in recent weeks as the Lebanese resistance continues to support the Palestinian people who are facing unprecedented genocide in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli government threatens Lebanon with war, local officials fear consequences

The Israeli military’s Northern Command approved plans for aggression against Lebanon while the Israeli government was looking for solutions to the impact of Hezbollah operations. In particular, the mass evacuation of tens of thousands of Israeli settlers from the occupied territories in the north and the insecurity in these settlements have become the main issue of concern for both the settlers and the Israeli authorities.

However, Israeli politicians and political commentators have acknowledged that a large-scale war against Lebanon would have a negative impact on the occupation. The resistance movement has released two important videos in which it provides a list of targets it intends to attack in the event of a war against Lebanon.

Speak with Channel 12The mayor of the Israeli-occupied city of Haifa, Yona Yahav, stressed that the Haifa authorities were completely unprepared for the scenario of a full-scale war because the Israeli-occupied government was not cooperating with the settlement’s municipality.

In a related context, Avichai Stern, mayor of Kiryat Shmona in the northern occupied territories, blamed the Israeli occupation government for the lack of preparation for the upcoming possible war with the resistance. He claimed that Hezbollah, which is training continuously, will face the Israeli occupation forces, which he described as “military police” guarding the gates.

Both statements contain the plain truth of a possible large-scale confrontation in which Hezbollah would use its modern weapons to attack and paralyze key Israeli sites and sectors. Yet the Israeli government insists on prolonging its war on Gaza, risking a possible all-out war in West Asia.
