Purchase remorse: Everyone has experienced it. Many people have either tried out a new game or been given it as a gift because they seemed to like it. Then they play it and it turns out it’s on a street in a completely different city than they like. Or, perhaps just as bad, a shorter drive than they thought. Either way, it’s a loss for the buyer, especially if they don’t have the receipt.

It’s not enough to simply recommend any long open-world game. A fun but short game is better than an endless grindfest. But these games are about finding that sweet spot where you get the most out of at least 40 hours of gameplay. That could be applied to almost any Yakuza/Like a dragon game, although some are better at keeping the fun factor consistently high than others.

0 gets the nod as it offers over 60 hours of fun if you take care of the main story, side stories, and side activities. It typically costs $19.99 in digital stores, but often goes on sale. It can currently be purchased alongside Yakuza Kiwami And Yakuza 2 for just over double the price, for $53.97 on Steam or $9.99 on the PlayStation Store! Better be quick, because this offer ends on June 20, 2024.

The Metal gear The franchise evolved from linear games with too much story to an open-world game with too little story. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom PainThe torturous development remains infamous nearly 10 years later, and the game’s story has suffered due to omitted content and Konami’s insistence on using microtransactions for its forward bases of operations.

Luckily, they’re easy to ignore, as the main game features two massive maps with multiple locations that give the player excellent opportunities to sneak in any way they choose. You can go aggressive and take it easy, or go stealthy and have a more challenging but rewarding experience. Either way, it averages over 80 hours of gameplay for $19.99. It’s often on sale, and there are places where you’ll find it for $10 or less.

Chances are PS4/PS5 owners already have this on their console. Horizon: Zero DawnThe Complete Edition was offered for free during the pandemic to encourage kids to stay indoors. That offer has since ended, but the game is still available at discounted prices.

The Complete Edition is available on the PS Store for a decent price of $19.99, but at GameBillet, PC owners can currently get a cheaper price of $16.99. Key shops can cost as much as $9.96, but are riskier to use compared to official outlets. Since the Complete Edition is only 10 hours longer than the base game, it’s best to stick to the right stores.

The price of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim depends on the edition you get. Since it’s been ported to almost every machine in existence, including the Switch, there are multiple ways to keep players busy. In total, they all last about 109 hours. Even longer if players try to complete everything in the game.

The Special Edition was available for PC on Steam, GOG, etc. for $9.99, and GOG offered the Anniversary Edition for $16.49. But those deals expire on June 19. Until there’s a new deal, PC owners will have to make do with the regular edition, which is available on Amazon for $12.08 and on Steam for $19.99. It may have fewer bells and whistles, but it still offers plenty to do. Especially if players get into the mods.

The Batman: Arkham Games did not start as open-world games, like Batman: Arkham Asylum is more of a tightly designed Metroidvania game. Players can move the caped crusaders around the asylum as they please, but without the right tools they’ll soon find their progress blocked. Batman Arkham City, Arkham OriginsAnd Arkham Knight are more similar to traditional open-world games.
