Meghan Markle’s father believes he and King Charles III are one and the same person.

Thomas Markle compared himself to the British monarch in a new interview, noting that both are struggling with health issues and are separated from the Duchess of Sussex and her husband Prince Harry.

“I would like to speak to him because I am sure he has as many unanswered questions as I do,” the retired television lighting technician told the Daily Mail on Saturday about Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer in February.

“None of us deserve the treatment we have received,” he continued. “He is undergoing cancer treatment and I am not in the best of health.”

Thomas, 79, said he felt “deep sympathy” for 75-year-old Charles, who he said was “in the same boat” as him.

“I have so many questions I want to ask Meghan and Harry,” he told the newspaper. “The most important one is: why have they treated not only me, but the royal family and the king so badly?”

Ahead of his 80th birthday next month, the Daytime Emmy winner pointed out that he has yet to meet his grandchildren, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. Both were born after he ruined his relationship with Meghan, 42, through staged paparazzi photos shortly before their royal wedding in 2018.

“They have two grandfathers they want to see, one of whom is the King of England,” he said. “I never thought in my 80 years that I would be in the same boat as the King.”

Thomas explained that Archie and Lilibet are “getting to the age where they start asking questions” and that he believes it is only a matter of time before they “realise what they have missed out on” because Harry (39) and Meghan gave up their royal duties and moved to the US in 2020.

The former cameraman said his only wish for his upcoming birthday was to hear from Meghan, even though he knew she “won’t be in touch.”

“I wish we could have resolved this situation. I was always ready and willing to do that,” he claimed, despite publicly criticising the Sussexes over the years.

Since moving to their native California, Meghan and Harry have remained close to their mother Doria Ragland, but have avoided seeing or speaking to their father, who has never met his royal son-in-law.

The couple also had limited contact with the prince’s family as they felt they were not supportive of their relationship.

Meghan and Harry vented their anger in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, and he revealed more details about his family feud in his 2023 memoir, Spare.

Since then, the Invictus Games founder has only seen his father Charles and estranged brother Prince William a few times on short trips home to London.
