A new rumor suggests that NetherRealm Studios may be considering Mortal Kombat Action-adventure spin-off game. This new rumor comes from an insider who has often shared convincing leaks on social media. This new rumor claimed that the franchise would deviate from its roots as a multiplayer fighting game and focus on a Mortal Kombat Single player adventure.


While Mortal Kombat Franchise has traditionally been a 2D fighting game series, but there is plenty of single-player content. Many of the main entries, especially after the ninth main game, have had cinematic single-player story modes alongside the traditional arcade leaderboards. In addition, the series has occasionally developed single-player spin-offs, with games like Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. While a few Mortal Kombat Spin-offs like Mythologies And Special Forces were panned by critics, Shaolin monks was praised as an excellent blueprint for what the series could do if it were a co-operative action beat-’em-up. It seems that an action-adventure game like Shaolin monks would be considered.

The recently released June hotfix for Mortal Kombat 1 adds new graphics options, provides bug fixes, and makes optimizations to some fighters.

On Twitter, thevscooper wrote that NetherRealm Studios is reportedly considering an action-adventure mode or even a spin-off for one of their titles. The most likely candidate for this rumor is Mortal Kombatalthough they note that it could also be used for NetherRealms injustice also series. They point out that it is too early to say whether everything will go as planned, as development plans often change and the pitch could be rejected before it goes into development.

This rumor still got a lot of fans excited. Many had hoped that NetherRealm would eventually reintroduce a single-player gameplay style. Mortal Kombat Creator Ed Boon has told fans about a possible Shaolin monks Boon has also tried to offer Warner Bros. a spin-off in the past, but was denied each time.
