Grieving family announces tragic cause of death of MTV star

The family of MTV Real World star Sarah Becker has confirmed that she committed suicide – she was 52 years old.

The reality TV star reportedly died at her home in Illinois early last week. Sarah had been caring for her ailing mother and sister in California, then suffered a skateboarding accident that severely affected her mental well-being.

Sarah was a star of Real World: Miami, an American reality television series in which she appeared in 1996. In the show, a group of strange people audition together for several months while cameras record their interpersonal relationships.

Sarah lived with her roommates Dan Renzi, Melissa Padrón, Joe Patane, Cynthia Roberts, Flora Alekseyeun and Mike Lambert.

During their season, the housemates were also given the task of starting a startup company with the help of $50,000, but they failed.

Sarah was only 25 years old at the time and a memorable moment occurred when she brought home a puppy in the 13th episode of the fifth season.
