Ariana Grande puts an end to the debates surrounding her singing after a recent interview clip went viral.

During a conversation with Penn Badgley for his podcast, Podcrushedthe cadence of the singer’s voice changed drastically within seconds, quickly switching from a loose, deeper voice to a higher pitch mid-reaction. Naturally, fans were confused, speculating and joking as to why she drifted in and out of the pitch range.

However, when Grande saw the clip attracting negative attention on TikTok, she made it her mission to set the record straight.

“Habit (speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health :),” she explained in the comments. “I often change my vocal pitch (high/low) on purpose depending on how much I sing 😭”

She concluded by claiming that this was nothing new.

“I’ve always done this, BYE,” she wrote.

While he works tirelessly on the upcoming film adaptation of the hit musical Evil Over the past two years – during which Grande has starred alongside Cynthia Erivo in the role of the good witch Glinda – the 30-year-old has spoken openly about how much singing puts a strain on her voice.

“Preparing for the auditions took about six months – singing lessons every day, acting lessons every day,” she revealed on The Zach Sang Show in February of this year. “I trained every day… to change my voice, even my singing voice, everything about me… I had to deconstruct everything to prove to them that I could take on this other person.”
