The song’s recent surge in popularity follows Timberlake’s arrest early Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, New York, when he allegedly disregarded a stop sign in his 2025 BMW and “failed to stay on the right side of the road,” according to a police report.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his breath gave off the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, he was unable to divide his attention, spoke slowly, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

This isn’t the first time Spears’ fans have helped her songs re-enter the charts.

In January, Timberlake released a single and music video titled “Selfish,” the same name as another Spears single from 2011. However, her fans quickly embraced the song on social media, bringing it back to No. 1 on the iTunes charts on January 26.
