Have the authority

The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority has vacancies on its Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) and Expenditure Plan Oversight Committee (EPOC), respectively.

The EPOC, consisting of seven members, exercises direct public oversight over the use of

its annual $24 property tax, which voters made permanent in November 2020. This tax brings in about $8 million annually.

The 15-member CAC helps review and recommend applications for the authority’s annual urban grant program, which has disbursed nearly $15 million in grants and funded 950 community programs to promote nature in urban areas. Last year, the authority awarded nearly $2 million to 19 local organizations.

The members of both committees are volunteers who live in the agency’s work area. There are three vacancies in the EPOC. Members meet quarterly and serve a three-year term. The CAC members serve a two-year term. There are two vacancies.

For more information and to apply to join one of the committees, visit https://www.openspaceauthority.org/public-information/committees.
