Local musicians serenade visitors at the 76th annual Camden Garden Club Tour

On July 18, the Camden Garden Club invites Garden Tour guests to visit five unique properties while enjoying the repertoire of seven talented musicians. According to a press release from the Garden Club, it will be a day that offers every guest a comprehensive listening opportunity. Inspired by the successful introduction of musical accompaniment on the 2023 tour, this year talented musicians will play all genres of music, from rock to classical piano, Celtic folk music to violin solos.

“More than a traditional garden tour, it is an opportunity to explore our city’s neighborhoods and public spaces, 13 of which are maintained by the Camden Garden Club,” the club said. “It is an opportunity to see the lush and enchanting landscapes of our coastal climate, with a captivating musical accompaniment that is not to be missed.”

Jamie Allen is a musician specialising in traditional fiddle, Irish flute, classical and Celtic guitar. He enjoys playing traditional Celtic music. He is also available for concerts, parties and lessons at [email protected].

Alex Bigney & Sons: Alex and his sons Alex and Noah play Celtic music taught to them by their ancestors. The Scottish bang and irregular, sharp rhythms will get your feet tapping. This style of music comes from their folk village of Kirkmount in the hills of Nova Scotia.

Charlie Brown has long been a fixture on the music scene in Portland, along the Midcoast, and in Vinalhaven. Every December, he gathers instrumentalists and singers to perform Handel’s Messiah in bars from Portland to Rockland.

Phil Clement has performed throughout the Midcoast for over 50 years. Phil plays in local orchestras, choral productions, and in orchestras for musical productions. As a guitarist, he has successfully performed folk, jazz, gospel, country, blues, and rock. [email protected].

Greg Dorr taught himself to play fiddle, violin, tin whistle and mandolin. He started playing with a contra dance band called Karl’s Dad’s Tavern. Edie, his beloved boxer, sings along to the tin whistle.

Anderson Gray has played the violin all his life. He was a member of the Amherst Symphony Orchestra. In the final episode of the HBO series “The Gilded Age” he appears in the final scene.

Ina Wolovitz has been playing the piano for 11 years and plans to minor in music. She has taken part in master classes for Pedja Muzijevic and Antonio Galera. She also accompanies other students at the Bay Chamber Music School. In the fall, Ina will attend Brown University.

Ami Wolovitz is a rising ninth grader in Camden. She has been playing violin for seven years and won 1st place at the Young Stars of Maine (2022) and the Pine Tree Competition (2021, 2023). She attends the Envision Workshop at Bay Chamber Music School.
