Michigan Football expected to sign 4-star running back in 2025

Michigan Football expected to sign 4-star running back in 2025

Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore was active on social media on Saturday, posting the eye emoji and #GoBlue three times.

That’s usually code for a commitment from Moore. The Michigan football head coach tweeted similar things before committing to Jaylen Williams, Kainoa Winston, Jasper Parker and even Brady Hart, the top-100 quarterback who signed with the Wolverines earlier this week.

So Moore caused a lot of excitement on Saturday when he had three different posts suggesting commitments. There were 17 official visitors on campus as part of Victors Weekend and to be honest, Michigan football is trending with a ton of targets, so it’s not easy to guess who Moore was talking about because there are 6-8 candidates.

However, running backs coach Tony Alford reposted Moore’s post along with his own, suggesting that one of the commitments is a running back. Soon after, expert projections and crystal ball predictions began that Michigan Football would sign four-star running back Donovan Johnson from IMG Academy.

Johnson is ranked 232nd in the class of 2025 according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, and that’s despite missing all of last season. However, he has elite potential and if he stays healthy this season, his ranking could improve even further.

Johnson is 6’0″ and 200 pounds. Michigan Football hosted him during the week and Steve Wiltfong, among others, projected Johnson to UM. According to the On3 prediction engine, the Wolverines have an 86 percent chance of signing him.

Although interest has waned somewhat since the injury, the offer list for Johnson is impressive and includes Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, USC, Texas A&M and a number of other heavyweights. Johnson also averaged 8.1 yards per carry two years ago.

The four-star back has tremendous potential and is a great fit for Jasper Parker, who I think is highly underrated. Parker is also likely to be a blue chip, and the running back haul of Parker and Johnson will fill out Michigan’s running back room.
