Woman, identified by family as Angelica Soto, stabbed to death in Chatsworth; family believes boyfriend is killer

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A woman was stabbed to death in Chatsworth early Tuesday morning and her family believes her boyfriend is the killer.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, someone reported hearing an argument between a man and a woman at their home on Owensmouth Avenue around 1:45 a.m. When the caller went to check on them, he found the woman with a stab wound to the neck.

Officials said the woman was conscious and breathing when they arrived, so they called 911. She was taken to a West Hills hospital, where she later died.

The suspect, whose identity is still unknown to police, fled the scene.

According to family members, the victim is Angelica Soto. Although they did not comment on the violent death, family members shared a photo of Soto and her boyfriend.

A neighbor who wished to remain anonymous spoke to Eyewitness News and called the incident “scary.”

“It’s very scary. It’s a quiet area in general,” she said. “It’s sad. It’s very sad. We’ve been here for about 20 years and my heart breaks for the family across the street.”

She said the family had always been happy.

“They literally had a flat grill outside. The lights were on and it was joy, joy, joy – always. So this is very shocking.”

Police are searching for the suspect and have not released any further details about the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD.
