Clifton Powell is the producer and lead actor of a new television series about the Winans family

Actor Clifton Powell will play David “Pop” Winans, the patriarch of the Winans family dynasty, in the limited film series “THANKFUL.”

Powell will produce The 10-episode miniseries “THANKFUL” consists of seven parts and was tailor-made by three award-winning directors.

I wanted to choose the actors for specific family characters – Clifton Powell as my father is absolutely perfect – having Clifton Jr. (his son) as young Pop is extremely rewarding. It’s a blessing to have them both – what a talented duo,” says Michael Winans Sr. “It’s important that the actors fit the roles, we were able to cast ‘greatness,’ the 50+ other legendary actors on board have embraced the story… and we are truly honored.”

The film’s soundtrack is inspired by the captivating stories and features the musical talents of the Winans family, friends and over 100 talented artists from around the world.

The majesty of the music in “THANKFUL” reflects the family’s renowned ability to compose and record Grammy-winning hits.

The series moves with solemn dignity, developing the image and impression of a spiritually pious, kind man. Louis Winans, who received the surname Winans from his tenant farmer Reverend Winans, is the first generation of the film in the story “THANKFUL”.

Powell is known for his memorable roles in the Oscar-winning film “RAY,” his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in the film “Selma Lord Selma,” the television series “The Family Business,” and the new miniseries “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist” with Samuel L. Jackson, Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, and Kevin Hart.
