Preview of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series in New Hampshire on Sunday

LOUDON, NH (WWLP) – It’s race weekend in New Hampshire and drivers are preparing for the only NASCAR race in New England.

It’s an exciting Sunday in Loudon. The NASCAR Cup season reaches the halfway point with the race here Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The weather was a big problem this weekend and it will continue on Sunday. The drivers were only able to complete a few practice laps on Saturday before it started to rain. This even forced the Cup qualification to be cancelled.

On Sunday, series leader Chase Elliott will start from pole. Ryan Blaney will share the front row in second place. His teammate Joey Logano from Team Penske explained how important the starting position is here on this flat track.

“We talk about how close the cars are to each other. If you’re just a tenth faster than the car in front of you, you probably won’t get past them. If you can start ahead of those cars, it changes your whole day. It helps your strategy and pit stop selection,” Longano said.

Logano considers this his home track as he is from New England and the drivers will have to contend with that New England weather on Sunday. Rain and storms are expected to continue.

NASCAR has decided to move the race up a half hour to get it done before the storms hit. The green flag is scheduled to be waved here in Loudon at 2:06 a.m.
