Matthew McConaughey voices the character Elvis in the new Netflix cartoon

The news of Matthew McConaughey’s latest role is shaking up the entertainment world.

It seems as if the Oscar-winning actor has set himself the goal of embodying the singer Elvis Presley.

But McConaughey’s version of the king will be nothing like the one that earned Austin Butler an Oscar nomination this year. Instead, he will portray Elvis as a spy for the Netflix animated series “Agent Elvis.”

The series features a fictional Presley who swaps his signature jumpsuit for a jetpack as part of a secret government spy program, according to Variety.

Don’t worry: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the King only has a part-time job and continues to work as a rock star.

Presley’s ex-wife Priscilla Presley is listed as co-creator of the series along with John Eddie, but “Archer” The experienced Mike Arnold will be showrunner and head writer.

The premiere of the show is scheduled for next month.

McConaughey announced the casting on his Twitter page, adding: “Elvis Presley always dreamed of being a superhero – now Priscilla Presley is making his dream come true!”

Although McConaughey seems excited to play Elvis, who died in 1977, he may want to be careful not to suffer like Butler and lose his Elvis voice after the show ends.
