Ash of War: Blinkbolt – Overview & Weapon Types

In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Earth TreeBlinkbolt is a new Ash of War that grants lightning affinity to the equipped weapon. The Ash of War: Blinkbolt Ash of War can be used with all melee weapons.

When you use this Ash of War, the Tainted literally turns into bolts of lightning that travel at high speeds and deal damage wherever they go. It doesn’t look like you can teleport through enemies with Blinkbolt, although there have been a few cases where it seemed to work that way. Much more often, you’ll come to a stop right in front of an enemy and deal damage when you hit them. However, Blinkbolt gives you a short window of invulnerability. This means you can use it to dodge attacks as long as you time it right.

Players will probably notice that Blinkbolt is also one of several attacks used by Shadows of the earth trees Death Knight mini-boss. Lore says that these warriors fought for Godwyn himself. Studying this powerful enemy will give you a good sense of how to use these ashes of war.

Ash of War: Blinkbolt costs 8 FP and does not have a strong attack. This Ash of War cannot be charged to increase its power.

Where to Find Ash of War: Blinkbolt Location

To Ash of War: Blinkbolt in Elden Ring DLC, you must click on the Misty Gap Catacombs. You’ll find yourself north of the Place of Mercy at the front of the castle. Go through the small corridor where Messmer soldiers will throw firebombs at you. The map may not be released yet, but you can reach the entrance if you continue north.

As you make your way through the dungeon, you will eventually come to a long corridor where a spellcasting enemy is firing extremely dangerous projectiles. This new spell causes the projectiles to bounce off surfaces. Cross the corridor by stepping into the alcoves on either side. Watch out for any holes or gargoyles. There is also a spiked ceiling in this chamber that falls down. When you reach the end, kill the spellcasting enemy.

Now there is a concrete railing on the platform where the enemy was standing. Get very close to it so the ceiling falls down. When it reaches the ground you will notice a small recess that you can jump into. Get in and then ride the spikes up. When you get to the top you will see a new platform that you can jump onto and there is a chest on it. Open the chest to find the Blinkbolt Ash of War.
