Love Island fans criticise ‘Meet the Parents’ episode after big change

Love Island Viewers expressed their disappointment during the episode “Meet the Bride, Her Father and Me” that physical contact between the islanders and guests was prohibited.

In Sunday night’s episode (July 31), parents and family members of the candidates entered the villa for a brief reunion.

In years past, this moment in the creation of the show has been an important one for the Islanders, as it was the first time in weeks that they were able to connect with each other.

It is often an emotional event where both the family and the participants become emotional and cry.

Since the Covid pandemic, the islanders can no longer hug their visitors due to the risk of infection.

Although restrictions have been lifted in the UK and other countries, restrictions remained in place for this year’s Meet the Parents event, meaning islanders and families are not allowed to touch each other.

Fans of the show expressed their confusion and disappointment over the changes.

“What, the parents are allowed to come into the villa but not hug their children? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?” asks an outraged viewer.

Another person commented: “Just got on a plane with over 100 people and they won’t let you hug!!! Seriously!!”

“This social distancing makes no sense at all,” noted another.

Elsewhere, some viewers found the lack of physical contact disturbing.

“The fact that they can’t even hug makes me so angry wtf?” one person tweeted.

Love Island ends on Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
