Interact Club helps in the community | News, Sports, Jobs

For some high school students, spring is a time for fun, parties, and outdoor recreation. But for the Brocton Interact Club, it’s also a time for community outreach. This community-minded club has partnered with Greystone Nature Preserve for over eight years on community-focused projects. Recently, on a refreshing spring day, they offered their services to Greystone Nature Preserve to maintain trees, install irrigation systems, and conduct an “Adopt-a-Highway” drive along two miles of Bear Lake Road. The trash collected was accounted for and properly disposed of. Many items found along the way, such as bottles and cans, were recycled. Four times a year, Greystone Nature Preserve takes on the responsibility of picking up trash as part of New York State’s “Adopt-a-Highway” program. Greystone Nature Preserve is a nonprofit organization with two missions. The first is to preserve 72 acres of the bluff, removing invasive plants and planting native trees and shrubs. The second mission is experiential environmental education for community members of all ages and abilities. For more information, visit the website: greystonenaturepreserve.com.
