Hot today; heavy thunderstorms possible tonight; lighter heat on Sunday; it will all be over by 6pm!

Tonight: Thunderstorms will increase from northwest to southeast. Storms may include damaging wind gusts and heavy rain from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Warm, humid and windy with lows around 21 degrees. Wind: WSW 10-20 mph.

Sunday: Showers and/or drizzle in the morning, followed by sunny spells in the afternoon. Much cooler and less humid. Highs around 24 degrees. Wind: WNW 16-32 km/h.

Monday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the 30s. Winds NW 5-10 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. Highs near 90 degrees. Winds SSW 10-20 mph.

Happy Saturday, West Michigan! Today will be hot and humid again, with temperatures feeling around 35 degrees. During the day it will stay mostly dry, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible north of I-96 today. The air is very humid today, so some thunderstorms could bring a lot of rain in a short period of time. A FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Muskegon, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta and Montcalm counties from noon today until 6 a.m. Sunday. Breezes from the southwest could create dangerous swimming conditions today, especially on the south side of the piers. A BEACH HAZARD ADVISORY is in effect for Van Buren, Allegan and Ottawa counties through Sunday morning.

A line of storms is expected to move in from the northwest after 9 p.m., arcing southeast from Lake Michigan. Some storms could become severe tonight between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. With all severe storms, damaging winds are the greatest danger. However, a brief tornado cannot be completely ruled out. Keep an eye on the weather and get a way to receive warnings tonight!

Sunday is significantly cooler, with highs of just 24 degrees. We’ll accept that! Humidity will decrease as the day progresses, with real rain reserved for the early hours of the morning. Drizzle and cloud cover may persist until late morning. Monday will be immediately warmer and wetter again. Tuesday will be really hot, with highs of 35 degrees again and storm surges that are already heralding a pattern of potential storms. Fortunately, this next bout of heat will be short-lived, with a cooler 27 degrees on Wednesday and into next week.
