LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – People from across Michigan came to Old Town on Saturday to celebrate the city’s third annual Pride festival.

More than 170 vendors lined the streets with a beer tent, entertainment, food and more. Lansing Pride officials said they wanted to bring a sense of community, love and belonging to all people in the Capital Region.

55 years after the Stonewall uprising sparked Pride Month in New York City, organizers say they continue to fight for equal rights.

“We still have a lot of rights and recognition to fight for, but it’s just incredible that we have this place and this community to come together and celebrate… to have fun and love and support each other and just be ourselves,” said Huntar Martin, a member of the Lansing Pride board.

Ben Dowd, president of the Lansing Pride Association, said nearly 10,000 people would participate in 2023.
