Mumbai (Maharashtra):

With the release of the historical drama Maharaja On Friday, Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, who made his debut in the film, shared his feelings about the overwhelmingly positive response.

“I can’t put into words how I feel right now. Maharaj has been a long and wild journey for me, but all’s well that ends well, I guess,” said Junaid.

“Maharaj was made with a lot of love, respect and passion and I am happy that the film and my performance have resonated with the general audience,” he added.

Talking about his future in cinema, Junaid says, “I know I still have a long way to go and I can improve in many ways. I just hope that in all my future work, I get a cast and crew that are just as supportive.”

Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court of the state of Gujarat had lifted the interim stay on the release of the film.

Following the decision, YRF posted a statement on its official Instagram account expressing its gratitude.

“We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of ‘Maharaj’, a film that celebrates one of our country’s most important social reformers, Karsandas Mulji,” the statement said.

“Yash Raj Films has been committed to India, its stories, its people, its culture and its heritage for 50 years. We have never produced a film that has tarnished the reputation of our country or our countrymen,” it added.

The film was directed by Sidharth P Malhotra and produced by YRF Entertainment. Maharaja deals with the Maharaja defamation trial of 1862. The film stars Junaid Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles, and Sharvari also makes a guest appearance.
