Myrtle Lorene Taylor, 86, of Springdale, died Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born September 11, 1937, in Clarksville, Arkansas, to Cladie Edward Sanders and Edna Watson Sanders. Myrtle was originally from Clarksville, Arkansas. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1955. She moved to northwest Arkansas in 1961. She and her husband, Bill, ran a family trucking business, appropriately named Taylor Brothers. Myrtle was the office manager for 13 years until the company passed to new owners in 1974. She worked as office manager for a local doctor’s office, then she and Bill ran a joint family business, Taylor Camper Sales. Myrtle began a new career in banking in 1981. She was promoted to Vice President and worked at several banks in Northwest Arkansas until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She had a beautiful alto voice. During their retirement, Bill and Myrtle enjoyed spending time with family, especially their grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending several winters in South Texas with other family and friends. Myrtle was a wonderful cook and I have countless memories of fantastic family meals. She was a wonderful wife, mother and “Memaw”. No matter what her job, she was a hard worker with a selfless personality who put others first. When she hugged you, you knew it! She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Vera Taylor and Faye Cowell. She is survived by her husband, Billy Charles Taylor, of the home, whom she married May 28, 1955; two sons: Mike Taylor and his wife Sheila of Fayetteville and Lance Taylor and his wife Alicia of Fayetteville; five grandchildren: Nick Taylor and his wife Katlyn, Brad Taylor and his wife London, Phillip Taylor, Bethany Taylor and Ashlyn Taylor; four great-grandchildren: Davis, Vivianne, Emma and Rhett Taylor. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Pastor Dan Carson officiating. Burial will follow at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale. The viewing will begin on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the church.
