Chris Pratt on his separation from Anna Faris: “Divorce sucks.”

Chris Pratt has spoken publicly about his split from Anna Faris for the first time since the couple announced their separation last year after eight years of marriage.

The 38-year-old actor, who has a five-year-old son, Jack, with Faris, admitted that while it hasn’t been easy, they are both “probably better off” since splitting up.

“Divorce sucks,” Pratt said Weekly entertainment. “But at the end of the day, we have a great boy with two parents who love him very much.

“And we find a way to deal with it while still being friends and still being nice to each other. It’s not ideal, but yeah, I think we’re both probably actually better off.”

Pratt confirmed that he and Faris were “legally separating” in a joint statement on social media in July, writing, “Anna and I regret to announce that we are legally separating.

“We tried for a long time and are really disappointed.”

His statement continued: “Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we would like to keep this situation as private as possible from now on.

“We still love each other, will always cherish the time we spent together and will continue to have the deepest respect for each other.”

Meanwhile, fans speculated that Faris was brooding about her past relationship during her podcast Unqualified when a caller asks for advice.

“Life is too short to be in relationships where you feel like something isn’t quite right, that someone isn’t supporting you, or that someone isn’t appreciating you enough,” she said.

“Don’t be afraid to assert your independence when something is wrong.”

The 41-year-old Domestic rabbit Star recently said Women’s health: “Chris and I try to communicate openly.

“We reiterate that there are no rules here. We have a lot of love and friendship, and our ultimate goal is to protect Jack. I value my family, my close friends, my child – that makes the rest of this worthwhile.”

The couple married in Bali in 2009 and had Jack in 2012.

Pratt is currently promoting Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Faris stars in the remake of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell’s Over board.
