American singer Justin Timberlake was arrested in New York City for drunk driving.

The pop star was snapped in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, an affluent village in the Hamptons, a popular summer destination for celebrities on Long Island.

A court official told the BBC that Timberlake is expected to appear in court and will be formally charged shortly.

Sag Harbor police and representatives for Timberlake were contacted by reporters for comment, but no valuable information was available at the time of this report.

LEADERSHIP learned that Timberlake, 43, who is about to embark on a world tour in support of his sixth album, Everything I Thought It Was, has spoken openly in the past about seeking help for his excessive drinking.

Timberlake is also a globally recognized actor, songwriter and one of the most successful musicians.

He was scheduled to perform two shows in Chicago this weekend, followed by a show at New York’s Madison Square Garden next Tuesday.

Whether an indictment against him would lead to a shortening of these shows is not yet known to the media.

Timberlake, a ten-time Grammy winner, is also known for his roles in the films “The Social Network” and “Friends with Benefits.”
