Greater Cincinnati bookstore closes after more than two decades

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A Greater Cincinnati bookstore is closing after more than two decades of business.

The Half Price Books Northgate branch on Colerain Avenue will close its doors on July 7. The store’s lease has expired and no agreement could be reached on a new contract, the company’s headquarters said.

A note near the store entrance reads in part:

Dear book lover,

Half Price Books opened our Northgate store here in Cincinnati in 2003 and we have loved being part of this community for 21 years. We have great customers here in Northgate and would love to stay, but unfortunately we were unable to come to terms on a new lease, so we regret to announce that we will be closing the store on Sunday, July 7th.

Any items purchased at the Northgate store can be returned to any of our other stores in accordance with our return policy. Vouchers can also be redeemed at any other store. Your HPB gift cards are also valid at any Half Price Books store and on HPB.com.

We appreciate the kind words of support and passion the community has shown during this transition. Thank you, and we look forward to many more years of reading and recycling together.

Books from this location are sent to several other Half Price Books stores in the tri-state area. Other stores include Florence on Houston Road, Anderson Township on Ohio Pike, Hamilton on Princeton Road, Kenwood on Montgomery Road and Mason on Arbor Square Drive.
