Voice actress Lisa Simpson believes there will be a second Simpsons movie

Lisa Simpson’s voice actress Yeardley Smith believes there will be a second “Simpsons” movie.

The 57-year-old actress, who voices the main character in the animated sitcom that has been running since 1989, has revealed that she wants the sequel to 2007’s “The Simpsons Movie” to be a Christmas film.

Speaking to The Movie Dweeb, she said: “I really believe there will be a second installment, and my suggestion is that it should be a Christmas movie so that it is relevant every year for the rest of time.”

Her idea happens to fit producer Al Jean’s concept for the show’s final episode.

He recently said: “I mentioned that there would be an ending where in the last episode they would go back to the Christmas play from the first episode, so the whole series would be an endless loop.”

“That’s how I would end it if I had to.”

In the film “The Simpsons Movie”, Homer Simpson pollutes Springfield’s water supply and is imprisoned in a giant dome by the EPA. The Simpsons are declared fugitives.

The film was a huge success, grossing over $500 million (£390 million) at the box office.

Yeardley stressed that the show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

She said: “We had a deal for 33 and 34, but I think we’ll be pretty forewarned for the final season because Disney bought Fox, everything except Fox News and Fox Sports, at least in part because of The Simpsons.

“Plus, I think if it were the last season, they would capitalize on it and make a ton of money from advertising.”

The French star said there will always be an “appetite” for “The Simpsons.”

Yeardley added, “When you consider how much content streaming services need… If someone literally binge-watches your entire series in one weekend, you’re screwed! How do you satisfy that insatiable appetite? That’s a huge deal.”
