The life story of Edith Piaf is told with the help of none other than the singer of “La Vie en rose” herself.

Although the French singer died 60 years ago at the age of 47, she will still be heavily involved in her official documentary thanks to “innovative and groundbreaking AI technology.”

On Tuesday, Warner Music announced that they had “collaborated with the estate of legendary French artist Edith Piaf” to recreate her voice and appearance for the upcoming animated biopic. Edith.

“Warner Music Entertainment and production company Seriously Happy will use artificial intelligence to develop the first animated biopic about a female artist and tell Piaf’s incredible story of how she overcame adversity to become a symbol of female empowerment and one of the most iconic French artists of all time,” the press release said.

According to the press release, Warner Music has gone back as far as 80 years to collect hundreds of Piaf recordings for AI technology to study and recreate.

“Piaf’s distinctive voice and image will be revived to further enhance the authenticity and emotional impact of her story,” the statement said. The film will include original recordings of Piaf’s hits, including “La Vie en rose,” “Non, je ne regrette rien” and others.

The film begins in the 1920s and covers Piaf’s life in Paris and New York until her death in 1963.

Piaf’s biopic is based on an original idea by Julie Veille and was written by Veille and Gilles Marliac.

“It was a special and touching experience to be able to hear Edith’s voice again. Thanks to technology, it felt like we were in the same room with her again,” Catherine Glavas and Christie Laume, the executors of Piaf’s estate, said in a statement.

Decades after Piaf’s death, her music is still heard around the world; according to Warner Music, it has been streamed nearly 300 million times to date.

“Edith is one of France’s greatest artists and she is still a source of pride for the French,” said Alain Veille, CEO of Warner Music France, in a statement. “Combining new technologies with traditional artists is such a delicate balancing act and it was essential for us to work closely with Edith’s estate and treat this project with the utmost respect. Her story deserves to be told and through this film we will be able to reach a whole new audience and delight a new generation of fans.”

A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
