Cady Groves’ team releases the album the singer completed before her death – Listen to the title track now

Although singer-songwriter Cady Groves passed away suddenly earlier this month, her fans can continue to enjoy her musical spirit with the upcoming release of her brand new EP.

On Friday, May 29, Groves’ team will release the singer’s latest album, Bless my heartwhich the late musician ended when the coronavirus pandemic broke out, representatives for the musician told PEOPLE.

The album will feature five songs, including a cover of James Blunt’s “Bartender,” her own songs “Camo” and “Cigarettes and Sunshine,” as well as a remake of her song “The Crying Game” and the title track “Bless My Heart,” which PEOPLE is the first to hear exclusively.

According to music critic Holly Gleason, who interviewed Groves before her death, “Bless My Heart” is “Groves’ personal truth, now put into song.”

“Like a handful of Polaroids from a promising young life, it follows the Tinkerbelle singer as she chases a dream – and tries to find her way through the hard stuff,” Gleason said of the title song.

“With a stirring chorus, she confesses, ‘I’ve got a million scars and I don’t know where to begin. Can somebody hear me now? Like a shooting star, she got me through the darkness…’ and in the bridge, she affirms her journey with a spirited proclamation, ‘I still believe someone will see the beauty in me. So don’t you come and bless my heart.'”

According to a press release, Groves’ team has partnered with Nashville-based entertainment brand Thirty Tigers to bring Groves’ music to light.

“After working with the creative team at SMACK Songs for the past 14 months, her EP was ready – and waiting for COVID-19 to end,” the press release reads. “Even though Cady is no longer here to see it, her music is being released to comfort people through the fear, uncertainty and loneliness.”

Groves, known for hits such as “This Little Girl,” “Love Actually,” “Forget You,” “Dreams” and “Oil and Water,” died on May 2 at the age of 30.

The sad news was first broken by Cady’s older brother Cody Groves, who shared an emotional post on Twitter saying that Cady has “left this world.”

“Few details are known at this time, but the family is trying to find them out and will keep people updated,” he said. “Rest in peace, little sister.”

In a follow-up tweet, Cody said his sister’s death was “natural” pending the final medical examiner’s report. Foul play and self-harm were both ruled out by the medical examiner, Cady’s rep told PEOPLE.

Cady leaves behind her parents Carol Pettit and Larry Groves, her four siblings Cody, Kevan, Kyle and Kelsy, and three of her half-siblings Adam, Carrie and Courtney Farmwald.

She is the third child of the Groves family to die at a young age. Her brother Casey Groves died on October 23, 2007. He was just 28 years old. Years later, on March 23, 2014, Cady’s brother Kelly Groves died, also at the age of 28.
