Orioles and Marlins lineups for the series opener in Miami

MIAMI – The Orioles (60-39) play Game No. 100 tonight, beginning a three-game series at loanDepot Park against the Marlins (35-65), who have the National League’s worst record.

The O’s face right-hander Kyle Tyler (0-1, 3.38 ERA). Gunnar Henderson bats first, Ryan O’Hearn is the designated hitter and bats fourth. Jorge Mateo is ninth on second base.

Albert Suárez (5-3, 2.82 ERA) will make his 13th start. In his first 12 games, he is 4-3 with a 3.13 ERA and the Orioles are 7-5 in those games.

The Birds won two of three games in Texas and lead the American League East by 1 1/2 games over the Yankees and seven games ahead of the third-place Red Sox.

Baltimore has won its last four games against Miami since late July, scoring at least five runs in each game. It’s the Orioles’ longest winning streak against the Marlins and the first time they’ve scored at least five runs against them in four straight games.

The Orioles have won their last three road series and are 10-3-2 (.733) in road series this season.

The Marlins played four games against the Mets after the All-Star break, losing 6-4 last night. They are 3-2 in their last five games after going 2-10 in their previous 12.

The Marlins’ last eight home games have been decided by three runs or fewer, their second-longest such streak since 2017 (10-game streak in 2022). Miami has decided 34 home games by such a margin, ranking fourth in the majors this season.
