Sandusky asks for input on Safe Streets Action Plan

The city of Sandusky is hosting two public meetings and conducting an online survey to gather community input on the Sandusky Safe Streets Action Plan, an important initiative to ensure the safety of all citizens on city streets, according to a press release.

These efforts are supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets for All grant program, the press release said.

According to the press release, the city has hired Cleveland-based engineering firm WSP to assist in developing the plan.

The Safe Streets Action Plan is designed to assess the current condition of traffic and roads, analyze historical safety trends and prioritize projects that improve the safety of Sandusky’s transportation network, the press release said.

The Safe Roads Action Plan proposes a series of detailed projects, strategies, measures, guidelines and standards and serves as a comprehensive guide to improving the safety of all road users, the press release said.

Residents are encouraged to share their views on road safety and provide feedback on areas they believe are unsafe for travelers.

There are several ways to get involved:

• Online Survey – Complete the online survey to let us know your opinion. The survey is available online at www.CityofSandusky.com.

• Open House Workshop – Attend one of two open house workshops on July 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Sandusky City Hall, 240 Columbus Ave., or from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sandusky Rec @ Mills, 1918 Mills St.

Printed surveys are also available at City Hall and Sandusky Rec @ Mills.

The survey will be open for three weeks, the press release said.
