Chris Brown is accused of attacking his own concertgoers

R&B singer Chris Brown is accused of assaulting several of his concertgoers in a new lawsuit filed in Houston. According to local news channel NBC DFW, the lawsuit states that the alleged victims had just “congratulated” the singer on a “good show” before Brown “remembered” that they had “got into an argument.”

The lawsuit is being filed by four different men, according to the source. In addition to Brown, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder during a 2014 rehab stint, they are also suing three members of his entourage and entertainment company Live Nation. The four men accused Brown and his team of “throwing chairs at them and repeatedly kicking, stomping and punching them” after attending the second night of Brown’s 11:11 tour in Fort Worth, Texas.

The men in the suit claimed they were invited backstage to Brown’s VIP area after the show, where one of them allegedly exchanged the following pleasantries with Brown: “Good show; it’s been a while, but I’m glad you’re OK. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you,” to which Brown allegedly responded that he appreciated the gesture. Things went awry, according to NBC DFW’s description of the suit, when someone in the entourage reminded Brown that he was supposed to be “having a fight” with one or more of the men.

The men then claim they were chased into a hallway where they were beaten by Brown and seven to ten of his paid cronies. They outnumbered them and struck them on the head, neck and shoulders, causing severe bodily injuries for which they say they are still receiving medical treatment. They are seeking $50 million in damages. To date, Brown has not been arrested in connection with the incident.

“The brutal, violent attack that Brown participated in and directed has caused serious injuries to all of the plaintiffs,” the men’s attorney said in the lawsuit, via NBC. “Chris Brown’s egregious behavior must be stopped.”

Before this lawsuit, Brown had been accused of hitting people on several occasions over the past decade – the first time in 2009 when he was accused of attacking singer Rihanna during a relationship. Brown pleaded guilty to assault after pictures of her battered face were leaked to the press as a result of the incident. As penance, she was ordered to attend and complete a domestic violence prevention course and perform community service.

In 2010, he expressed his pride in completing the course, tweeting: “I have enough self-respect and decency to be proud of successfully completing this DV course. Boys, run from your mistakes. Men learn from them!!! Thank you.”

And yet, from that point on, he was accused of physically attacking people in both his personal and professional lives – from nightclub brawls to professional relationships such as that with his ex-manager Mike G (who sued Brown for “brutal” beatings and settled out of court in 2019) and further allegations of domestic violence after his girlfriend Karrueche Tran accused Brown of punching her in the stomach and pushing her down the stairs before obtaining a restraining order against him.
