The Interboro Bucs girls softball team is traveling to Alabama for the first time for the Babe Ruth League World Series, writes Aziza Shuler for CBS News Philadelphia.

Not bad for a 10U district team that was only founded two months ago.

The new team is on a historic championship run after winning the Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship earlier this month.

They beat competition in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York and qualified for the series in Florence, Alabama.

“In the two months that we’ve gotten to know each other, we’ve built this team, worked hard and gained some experience,” Bucs head coach Frank Urso said.

This is the first time in the history of the Interboro Softball League that one of its teams has made it to the World Series.

Your recipe for success?

“Commitment, hard work and keep going. Don’t quit. If you lose a game, don’t give up,” Urso said. “That doesn’t define us. We work hard.”

The girls also receive support from a community of supporters who raised $30,000 in two weeks to cover travel costs and fees.
