Major William Evans, Jr. – Hot Springs Village Voice

Major William (Bill) Alex Evans Jr., USAF, retired, died on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born on July 15, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee, to his late parents, William Alex Evans Sr. and Maddie Louise Evans. He was predeceased by his brother, Larry Evans.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Sherry Daniel Evans; two brothers, Robert (Odette) of England and Byron (Eva) of Dallas, Texas; his son William Darren Evans (Maria) and his daughters Katherine, Sarah and Faith; his daughter Melanie Evans Hernandez (Gilbert) and her children Andrea and Brandon; and several great-grandchildren.

Bill received a BS in Mathematics from Arkansas State Teachers’ College (now the University of Central Arkansas), a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and an MS in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.

Bill and Sherry moved to Hot Springs Village in 1999 and Bill became an active member and leader of the Men’s 9 Hole Golf Group, the American Legion, the Camera Club and the Computer Club. He greatly enjoyed water skiing on Lake Balboa and teaching his grandchildren to water ski.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at CedarVale Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Hemund officiating. Donations may be made to the Village United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
