National nonprofit Petco Love invests in Tacoma animal shelter to save and improve lives of pets in Pierce County – The Suburban Times

The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County receives a $90,000 grant from statewide nonprofit Petco Love to support their lifesaving work for animals in Pierce County.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit organization that works to create change in animal welfare by using the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested nearly $400 million in adoptions and other life-saving efforts. And Petco Love, in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations like ours across North America, helps find loving homes for pets. 6.8 million pets have been adopted and the number is growing.

“Our investment in the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is part of a recently announced investment of over $15 million by Petco Love to support local organizations across the country. This is part of our commitment to a future where no pet is needlessly euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are just one part of our strategy to empower pet lovers to join us in driving life-saving change. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Petco Love for their support,” said Ashley Taulbee, Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County. “Their generosity exemplifies their deep commitment to our mission and to the thousands of pets and people in Pierce County we serve each year.”

The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is a nonprofit animal shelter with the highest annual animal intake in the state. Each year, the shelter places over 6,000 pets into loving homes, returns over 1,100 animals to their families, and cares for thousands more pets throughout Pierce County. The shelter also provides important support programs and resources, including a pet food and supplies pantry, spay/neuter and health care vouchers, and a monthly vaccination and health clinic for community members.
