Dave Bautista, Anna Faris and others talk about action, comedy and My Spy The Eternal City

During the pandemic, Prime Video acquired the rights to the action comedy from STX Films My spy, starring Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman. The comedy paired with dune And Protector of the Galaxy Star with a teenage co-star for a comedy with action elements. Four years later, the pair reunited with co-stars Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong for a sequel that swapped comedy and action, creating an improved sequel that was superior to the first.

In My Spy The Eternal City, We revisit JJ (Dave Bautista) and Sophie (Chloe Coleman) four years after the first film. Now that Sophie is a teenager, she and JJ have a different relationship, one that is full of challenges. When Sophie’s choir gets a chance to perform in Italy, JJ volunteers to chaperone them. While he’s abroad, JJ’s boss, David Kim (Ken Jeong), draws him into the search for an international terrorist who could threaten the world. JJ and Sophie must use their espionage skills to save the world and perhaps improve their own dynamic in the process.

I chatted with the stars of My Spy The Eternal City about the sequel and what it was like shooting in Venice and Rome. I asked Ken Jeong what it was like doing more exterior work and Chloe Coleman talked about what it was like doing more stunts this time. Dave Bautista talked about why My Spy The Eternal City was harder work than dune. Flula Borg talked about portraying a tough guy who can hold his own alongside Dave Bautista, while Anna Faris talked about portraying a character that was unique in her career.
