At least one person killed in Ukrainian attack on Russian ferry port

At least one person was killed and five others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on a ferry port in southern Russia early Tuesday, state media reported. reportedciting emergency services.

According to regional authorities, several drones targeted a passenger ship in the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar region.

“The Kyiv regime has once again attempted a terrorist attack in the Krasnodar region. This morning, drones attacked a ferry in the port of Caucasus,” Governor Veniamin Kondratiev wrote on social media. “Unfortunately, there are injured and dead among the crew and employees.”

The state news agency Interfax reported, citing unnamed rescue workers, that one person was killed in the attack.

The port of Kavkaz is one of the largest passenger ports in Russia and connects the Russian mainland with the annexed Crimea via a railway and ferry line.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that its air defenses had destroyed or intercepted 21 drones over Crimea and the Black Sea.

The authorities in Kyiv initially made no comment on the attack.
