COP29 President-elect and chief negotiator to attend talks on climate action in China

COP29 President-elect Mukhtar Babayev and chief negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev met with Liu Zhenmin, China’s special envoy for climate change.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Climate Change Ministry conference in Wuhan, reports News.Az.

The UN Climate Change Conference 2024 (UNFCCC COP29) will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November 2024.

This event includes the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29), the 19th session of the COP serving as the Conference of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 19), and the sixth session of the COP serving as the Conference of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 6). This conference is convened, among other things, to finalise the first enhanced transparency framework and the new common quantified target for financing. It also features the 61st sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 61) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 61).
