Review of House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 6: Disappointing, boring nonsense

House of the Dragon Season 2 is turning out to be a huge disappointment, and episode 6 is no exception. Again, it’s the same old story, the characters standing around and talking.

As I said, episode 4 was really good, but that doesn’t justify the rest of the series being deadly boring.

Episode 6 is more of the same – disappointing and boring. Once again, there is no action. We are promised cool events, but we don’t get to see them. It’s predictable. As with much of what Hollywood has produced lately, it feels like Hollywood is forcing its own agenda on the characters and the show.

House Dragon Kiss

First, let’s talk about Queen Rhaenyra, who is now a lesbian. I thought it felt forced and unnecessary. Rhaenyra has become a hysterical bundle of nerves lately. She hasn’t been a leader. She slaps the guy (men are evil), she doesn’t get along with her husband (men are evil), and she makes out with a girl (girls are better). It’s hilarious. I don’t think Rhaenyra is a lesbian in the books, but it might be hinted at. Regardless, it’s a win for the LGBQT+ and nonbinary community (party horns sound!).

House Dragon Episode 6

And what about poor Sir Steffan? Nothing against the actor, but there’s a reason they cast the guy in the role. Sir Steffan didn’t stand a chance, lol. Dracarys! Who didn’t know this was coming?

That led to Seasmoke getting a rider. Within one episode, so just a few hours into the series, Seasmoke suddenly has a rider, which of course sets up the final episodes where we’ll hopefully see some cool action. I’ve already explained that I don’t know which characters are which. I have no idea who this new rider is, other than he’s the brother of the guy who saved Lord Corlys. Also, I believe in this episode they showed the bald brother shaving his head, and he had blonde hair, right? And he was hiding it the whole time? So that means they’re Targaryens. Was any of this hinted at in previous episodes? Honestly, I can’t remember. If not, it’s really contrived.

Matt Smith, House Dragon, Episode 6

This episode also features more hallucinations from Prince Daemon. I mean, holy shit! What a waste of a character. I’ll tell you what’s going on: They didn’t know what to do with Matt Smith’s character, so they benched him for the entire season. How many episodes have there been of the same shit? above And above And above again? We get it. In case you didn’t catch it (I didn’t), so apparently this is what happened: The witch killed Grover Tully (who?). Remember how she tells Daemon, “The wind will change in 3 days.” Well, then Grover Tully dies. What sucks is that again, we don’t get to see it. I don’t even have a clue who the hell Grover Tully is. The security of these lords in their own homes is also really sucking. That’s what? Three Has something like this ever happened this season?

House Dragon Episode 6

The rebellion was a mixed bag for me. They should have set things up better. Yes, this family is lacking food (though the father certainly isn’t). In one episode they showed the gates closing around them. In this episode Rhaenyra is sending the food to the shore. Question: There’s a war going on, the king’s son has been murdered, and the army of King’s Landing isn’t looking for ships?

Housedragon Episode 5 - Review

What I liked about the episode were the scenes with Aemond. I liked how Aemond removed his mother from the council and appointed his grandfather as the Hand. However, Otto never reacts! It also seemed like he was going to kill his brother in his bed. That exchange between Aemond and Larys was really good. Larys thought he was going to be the Hand, but Aemond was setting a trap for him the whole time. Aemond is not a fool like his brothers, even if they made him look like one in the episode with the full-frontal shot.

This episode gets a 4/10 Evaluation.
