The Deadpool Corps Explained: The Comic Book Origins of Lady Deadpool, Dogpool, and the Rest of the Deadpool and Wolverine Team

What’s better than one Deadpool? How about a whole team of Deadpools! That’s the idea behind the Deadpool Corps, which has appeared in the latest trailers for Deadpool and Wolverine. Led by main character Wade Wilson and supported by variants like Lady Deadpool and Dogpool, the Deadpool Corps comes straight from the comics and its origins are quite similar to the apparent plot of the film.

In comics, the Deadpool Corps first appeared in 2010’s Prelude to Deadpool Corps, written by Victor Gischler and drawn by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld. This limited series sets the stage for the subsequent 12-issue Deadpool Corps comic, in which Wade Wilson is chosen by a cosmic being called the Contemplator to defeat another cosmic being called the Awareness, who is bent on devouring the minds of everyone in the multiverse.
