Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for the second season of “Pachinko.” The eight-episode second season is based on the 2017 novel by Min Jin Lee and will premiere worldwide on August 23.

“Pachinko” tells the story of four generations of a Korean family who moved to Japan before the start of World War II. According to an official synopsis for Season 2, “the parallel stories begin in 1945 Osaka, where Sunja must make dangerous decisions to ensure her family’s survival during World War II, and in 1989 Tokyo, where Solomon explores new, humble beginnings.”

In the trailer, Koh Hansu (Lee Min-ho) reunites with teen Sunja (Minha Kim) in war-torn Osaka, Japan, after nearly two decades apart. “It’s been 14 years. How did you find me?” Sunja asks when she sees Hansu. “I never lost you,” he replies.

Other cast members for the second season include Yuh-Jung Youn, Jin Ha, new Emmy nominee Anna Sawai, Eunchae Jung, Soji Arai, Junwoo Han, Jimmi Simpson and Sungkyu Kim.

The first season of “Pachinko,” which premiered in March 2022, was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Opening Credits Design. It received honors at the 2022 Gotham Awards for Groundbreaking Series and at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards for Best Foreign Language Series.
