The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. is one of the largest and fastest growing youth beach volleyball clubs in Canada.

Over 700 youth have signed up for their outdoor beach volleyball programs in 2024. The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club has partnered with Emerald Lake Waterpark for thirteen years to utilize their sand courts. The courts have required extensive renovations to bring them up to date.

The club has received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that will partially fund the renovation of three beach volleyball courts at Emerald Lake Waterpark. The renovation of these courts will include the installation of drainage and the installation of Olympic-grade volleyball sand.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 6 p.m., MPP Jess Dixon, along with a board member of the Scorpion’s Volleyball Club, will participate in a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at the Emerald Lake sand courts to officially open the new courts.

Paul Langan, Scorpions Beach Program Coordinator, explains, “Our youth beach program was at full capacity. In order to host youth beach tournaments and give more youth the opportunity to play beach volleyball, we wanted to invest in the community. We have had a very positive relationship with Emerald Lake in the past. With this new investment and lease, we look forward to being able to host more tournaments and programs for the youth in the area.”

We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, for funding much of the renovation of these courts. Investing in healthy activities for youth is a top priority for the mandates of our club and the Trillium Foundation.”
