A day for the everyday hero in the famous Chautauqua Auditorium
BOULDER, Colorado – The Colorado Chautauqua grounds have more than 100 years of history – and dozens of concerts are held in its auditorium each summer.
But before these concerts can take place, much of people in a much work.
“Chautauqua is a very special place,” says Jeane Woods, volunteer program manager at Colorado Chautauqua. “We have a great number of volunteers who really help us with all of the programs we run here.”
Volunteers greet guests, hand out wristbands and show them the way to their seats – including the outstanding volunteer Regina Bock.
“I love concerts and it was easy and fun,” said Bock. “And this is a magical place.”
Bock’s primary role is that of usher, a particularly important role in Chautauqua’s 125-year-old auditorium.
“The seats are a little weird, they don’t have numbers on the back, they have numbers on the side,” said Bock. “So it’s a little confusing for people to find their seat.”
