Murfreesboro City Council approves FY 2025 Annual Action Plan and Subrecipient Awards

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Murfreesboro City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Action Plan and Subrecipient Allocation on Thursday, July 18, 2024. The Annual Action Plan outlines local priorities and allocates approximately $1.3 million for community development and housing needs. This plan will be submitted to the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to receive funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

“The City’s Annual Action Plan serves as a guide for HUD-funded community development projects,” said Robert Holtz, director of community development. “The plan supports the use of CDBG funding for fiscal year 2025 by identifying projects that will assist the community with programs and housing needs in the areas with the greatest concentration of poverty and blight.”

The Annual Community Development Action Plan, covering the period July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, supports the fiscal year 2025 CDBG allocation of $928,101 and the HOME allocation of $409,794. The City will submit its fiscal year 2025 Annual Action Plan with the list of funded projects to HUD before August 15, 2024. The draft plan is available on the City’s website and can be found on the Community Development webpage at https://www.murfreesborotn.gov/112/Community-Development.

Two public action plan review sessions were held at the Murfreesboro Municipal Airport on March 27, 2024 and June 12, 2024 to gather input on the draft action plan to meet community needs. Nonprofit organizations submitted applications to assist the City in implementing the plan. The applications were reviewed and the organizations were awarded funding to provide services that benefit low- to moderate-income individuals in the City.

The funding allocation and projects in the Annual Action Plan are designed to make a meaningful community impact, meet critical needs and improve the quality of life for Murfreesboro residents.
