“Senseless”: 22-year-old shot dead while selling headphones in Sanford

SANFORD, Florida. – A 22-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday night in Sanford during a meeting to sell headphones, police said.

The fatal shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. outside a home near West 3rd Street and Pomegranate Avenue.

Sanford police said Brandon Leo drove to a home to sell a pair of headphones and waited in the driveway in his pickup truck.

According to police, at least two unknown men approached the driver’s side of the pickup truck, whereupon Leo put the truck in reverse and backed out of the driveway. Several shots were fired and the pickup truck crashed into a retention pond.
There it was found by Sanford police officers who were called to the scene after shots were fired, officials said.

According to police, Leo was found dead in the partially submerged pickup truck, apparently with a gunshot wound.

The investigators are asking for information about the perpetrators.

“A family is grieving the loss of their son because of a pair of headphones,” said Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith. “The word senseless does not begin to describe this tragedy. Our investigators have worked tirelessly to locate these two individuals who clearly have no regard for the value of human life.”

Anyone with information about Leo’s death is asked to call Sanford police or Crimeline at 800 423-TIPS or visit crimeline.org. Calls to Crimeline remain anonymous and tips to Crimeline leading to murder solving may be rewarded with a cash reward of up to $5,000.
