News agency ANI tweeted a few hours ago about the arrest of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in Dubai. The tweet read: “Pakistan’s Geo News reports that singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been arrested in Dubai following a defamation case filed by his former manager Salman Ahmed, according to sources in Dubai Police. Rahat’s former manager Ahmed had filed a complaint against him with Dubai authorities, according to the sources.”

It continued: “According to sources, Rahat had fired Ahmed a few months earlier following an argument. In addition, the sources said that both Rahat and Ahmed had filed lawsuits against each other.”

The singer then shared a video on his Instagram account and called the reports baseless. “I came to Dubai to record a song. There are some malicious reports circulating about my arrest. Please don’t believe them,” he said in the video.

Khan recently made headlines after a video of him physically assaulting his domestic help went viral on social media.

The singer posted a video in which he apologized and also revealed what actually happened between them. Khan said in the video, “He is my protégé and I have admitted that I abused him and badmouthed him. Later I apologized. Until now, it was fine, but people are making fun of it. But the truth is that he had my holy water with him. People don’t understand the intensity of the situation. It is a very serious matter for me as it involves my spiritual guide.”
