Kevin Costner did not hesitate to accept the invitation to meet Prince William. The Hollywood star was contacted by Prince William a few years ago when the two were in London. And a very insightful conversation developed.

Yellowstone actor Kevin recently recalled their exchange – and his surprise at Williams’ very first comment to him. “We met in this room, and we were alone,” he said. “He came up to us and we shook hands … The first thing he said was, ‘You know, my mom kind of fancied you.'”

The pair spoke for about 30 minutes – but Kevin told People he would “never say” what they discussed. He noted, “It was a very sweet thing. We just chatted and then parted ways and never became pen pals or anything. But I have such fond memories of who he was, how I was addressed and what we talked about.”

Years earlier, Kevin had contacted Princess Diana about collaborating on a sequel to “Bodyguard,” his 1992 hit with Whitney Houston. And it was none other than Sarah Ferguson who introduced the couple to each other. “It was so sweet. Sarah was the one who arranged it,” he revealed. “Sarah was very cool… although she could have said, ‘Well, I’m a princess too. What about me?’ She didn’t do that at all. Diana and I started talking.”

Prince William has previously spoken about his own celebrity crush – and how his mother Diana “embarrassed” him with a surprise visit. As a teenager, William had posters of supermodels on his walls, including Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. And Diana was able to use her position to arrange a visit from Cindy, who later said: “Princess Diana had somehow got hold of my office number and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was shocked! We finally made contact and she asked if I would come over for tea next time I’m in London.”

But instead of beaming with joy, the shock of seeing Cindy in the flesh almost made William fall down the stairs. “I was probably a 12 or 13-year-old boy who had posters of them on the wall,” the prince recalled in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy. “And I turned bright red and didn’t know what to say and was kind of stammering and I think I almost fell down the stairs on the way up. I was completely and utterly overwhelmed. But that’s a very funny memory.”
