EAST LANSING, Mich. – Join Michigan State University Extension’s Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series session on current issues on July 25. Producers and ag industry professionals can have all their questions answered live about growing crops and emerging pest and disease issues. Any topic related to field crops, whether new, old, not yet discussed or just emerging, can be covered. Specialists and educators covering a wide range of field crop knowledge will be available for discussion and to answer questions.

Michigan State University Extension climatologist Jeff Andresen will present a 15-minute weather forecast, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Michigan State University Extension’s virtual field crop breakfast series will be held live via Zoom every Thursday morning from 7-8 a.m. March 21 through September 19. Topics are flexible and loosely determined early in the season, and may change to reflect rapidly changing issues such as flooding and drought. Each year brings different challenges, and this series is designed to meet the needs of our field crop producers, no matter what conditions require.

Credits will also be awarded each week for Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) Recertification and Certified Crop Protection Advisor (CCA) Continuing Education units. To receive recertification credits, participants must attend the live Zoom session.

After the RUP and CCA credit information, participants may leave or stay for a less formal question-and-answer discussion with farmers, educators and specialists that lasts until 8:00 a.m. In addition to the day’s scheduled speaker, other MSU Extension campus specialists and educators with crop responsibility are often involved in the call and available to answer any questions about relevant circumstances in their area of expertise.

It’s easy and free to join! Participants must sign up to receive an email notification with instructions on how to join the virtual breakfast series. You only need to do this once to receive the Zoom link and dial-in number in the weekly email reminders sent every Wednesday and Thursday. Participants who receive emails can opt-in or opt-out at any time.
