One question asked in the July 13-17 national survey is particularly relevant now:
“If Joe Biden were to resign and not continue his campaign for re-election as President, which of the following candidates mentioned as possible successors should be nominated by the Democratic Party?”

Governor Gretchen Whitmer emerged as the third most popular answer to that question in the July national poll. Vice President Kamala Harris came in second, after answering that “someone else” should be the nominee.
In addition to Whitmer, another Michigan resident was on the list – Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg received 4% of positive responses. Buttigieg is a permanent resident of Traverse City.
