Braves’ Chris Sale delivers a stern message after victory over the Yankees

Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale isn’t getting too carried away with his team’s success. Sale is trying to stay focused after another solid pitching performance against the New York Yankees on Friday.

“Just like we didn’t worry when things weren’t going well, we’re not going to sit here and have a party when things aren’t going well. We just have to stay consistent, stay on task and do our part,” Sale said, according to The Athletic.

Sale defeated the Yankees on Friday, allowing one run on one hit in five innings. The team defeated New York 8-1. It was the Yankees’ fifth loss in their last six games.

Sale has had several outstanding performances for the Braves this season. He has 10 wins and just two losses this year. The pitcher strikes out batters at a rapid pace and has already recorded 107 strikeouts this season. He recorded eight on Friday against the Yankees, earning praise from Yankees slugger Juan Soto.

Sale is in his first season with the Braves. He came over from the Boston Red Sox last offseason. Sale has a WHIP of just 0.93 this year. He also has an ERA of 2.91, which is a much better number than what he achieved in Boston last season. The veteran pitcher seems to have found new life with the Braves. He also offers a lot of leadership in the locker room.

The pitcher is a seven-time All-Star. He won the 2018 World Series with the Boston Red Sox and is the pitcher with the most 2,000 strikeouts in MLB history. Sale achieved this impressive feat in a total of 1,626 innings. He was also the AL’s strikeout leader in the 2015 and 2017 seasons. In his long career, Sale has pitched for the Braves, Red Sox and Chicago White Sox.

Atlanta is happy to have the reinforcement in its rotation. The Braves are 42-31 this year, putting them in second place in the National League East division. The team is six games behind the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves had won four games in a row before Saturday’s games. Sale’s resurgence has definitely played a big part in the team’s success. The 35-year-old veteran underwent Tommy John surgery in 2020 and missed the entire season. Now he’s throwing like he’s 25 again.

“I did it. It worked out tonight,” Sale said after beating the Yankees on Friday, according to the New York Post. “I’ve faced these guys quite a few times and seen what they can do. I have too much respect for the game and too much respect for these guys to say anything other than we battled and it worked out in my favor tonight.”

Atlanta hopes it continues like this. The Braves are looking to get another win against the Yankees on Saturday. The teams’ game is set for 7:15 p.m. Eastern Time. Braves fans are excited to see how far Sale can take them this season.
